Ware Shoals – Sara Nell Coker Thompson, 82, widow of Luther Kenneth Thompson, Sr., of 890 TV Tower Rd, died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont.

Anderson - Longtime Anderson resident Mary Elaine Shirley Stanley passed away January 13th, 2016, at age 57. She was both a Clemson graduate and avid fan. Born in Anderson to Mary Edith Fleming Shirley and the late William Bruce Shirley, Sr., Mary graduated from Belton Honea Path High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering, Summa Cum Laude from Clemson University.

Honea Path – Margaret Eugenia Ashley Gambrell, 77, widow of Jesse Gene Gambrell, of 5909 Keowee Rd, died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Ware Shoals – Marie Elizabeth Hall Buriss, 92, formerly of 27 West Main St., died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Abbeville Nursing Home.

Ware Shoals – Betty Ruth Hamilton Smith Fink, 75, of 350 Turkey Creek Drive, widow of Carl “Yank” Fink died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Self Regional Hospital.

Ware Shoals – Erveene Ashley Haynes, 77, widow of Herman Lee Haynes, Jr., formerly of 23 Walnut St., died Saturday, January 09, 2016 at NHC of Laurens.

Waterloo – Darrell “Hoss” Simmons, 76, husband of  Faye Davenport Simmons, of 6750 Riverfork Rd, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home.

Donalds – Peggy Sue McGill, 63, of 161 Booker St., died Sunday, January 3, 2015 at her home.

Honea Path – Richard John Martley, 85, husband of Elizabeth Larsen Martley, of 519 Holiday Dam Rd., died Friday, January 1, 2016 at AnMed Heath Medical Center.

Born in New Haven, CT, he was a son of the late Claire Martley O’Connor. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Anderson, and was retired from Western Electric. Mr. Martley also served in the United States Air Force.

In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by two sons: Richard Larsen Martley and wife Nicolene of Charleston and Michael William Martley and wife Aphina of Tbilisi, Georgia; one daughter: Debra Elizabeth DeMarco and husband John of South Amboy, NJ; two brothers: Edward O’Connor and Pat O’Connor; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by six sisters: Dottie, Marion, Molly, Claire, Margie, and Eileen.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. J. Chris Fischer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans’ Cemetery.

The family is at the home, and will receive friends Friday, from 12 to 1 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
