Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late William Hal and Estelle Taylor Simmons. He was a member of Reedy Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of Cross Hill Lodge #159 A.F.M
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Mark Simmons of Cold Point, Robert Simmons of Alabama, one daughter, Susan Griffin of Cold Point, two stepsons Randy Qualls of Waterloo and Donnie Qualls of Ware Shoals, one sister, JoAnn Pittman of Augusta GA, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son William Simmons, three brothers Jack, Ray and Jim Simmons and three sisters Geneva Noffz,Shirley Ginn and Helen Ginn.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January, 6, 2016 at Reedy Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tommy Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
