Newport News – CWO3(Ret) Charles E. Thompson, 86, of Newport News, passed away December 7, 2013.  He was born December 13, 1926 in Honea Path, S.C.  and was a Newport News resident for over thirty years.  He retired from the United States Army after 28 years of service.  He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars.

Honea Path – Kathleen Smith Gambrell, 57, widow of Kenneth Melvin Gambrell, of 190 McCullough School Rd, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 5, 2013.

Ninety Six – Marion Burnett Hitt, 77, husband of Syble Mooney Hitt, of 109 Hollingsworth Road, died Thursday, December 5, 2013 at his home.

Howard Campbell Branyon, 85, of Ware Shoals, husband of Betty Watkins. Branyon for over 63 years, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
