Stella Johnson Thompson, 91, of Honea Path, South Carolina, was called to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. A lifelong resident of Honea Path, she was born on February 27, 1934 to the late Jasper Johnson and Nettie Elizabeth Bonner Johnson. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Graden Thompson, Jr.

Ware Shoals - Lula Diane Babb Ashley, 77, of Green Acres Boulevard, wife of William Danny Ashley, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at her home.

Born in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late Horace Nathaniel and Ruby Owens Babb. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Ware Shoals High School. A dedicated and hardworking woman, she was employed at Riegel Textile Co. of Ware Shoals, The Torrington Co. of Honea Path, and Erskine College of Due West. She loved her family deeply, especially her husband, son, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

Surviving are her husband, Danny of the home; a son, David Phillips (Alicia) of Laurens; two brothers, Donnie Babb of Hodges and Stanley “Dunk” Babb of Ware Shoals; a sister, Shirley Doan of Ware Shoals; three grandchildren, Ben Phillips, Reagan Phillips, and Chelsea Davis, and a great-granddaughter, Emerson “Emmy” Phillips.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Dennis “Deno” Babb; a sister, Mary Babb Adams; and a grandson, Chandler Davis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Nix officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Hodges.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church prior to the service.

Ware Shoals – Thomas Jeffery “Tom” Kowalik, 61, of W. Cork Street, husband of the late Cheryl Kowalik, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at his home. Born in Colden, NY, he was a son of the late Joseph M Kowalik and the late Phyllis Kowalik (Wylie). He proudly served his country as a Sailor in the US Navy until he retired and was of the Baptist Faith.

Belton – George Leo Hitt, Jr., 86, widower of Linda Poole Hitt, of Mahaffey Road, died Tuesday July 8, 2025 at his home.

Honea Path – David “Eagle” Edgar Green, 95, of Honea Path, entered the gates of Heaven on July 7, 2025 and heard “Well done” from his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ware Shoals-Nancy Jo Watts Veal, 63, widow of William James Veal, died Monday, July 7, 2025 at her home.

Waterloo – Patrick “Petesie” Henry Stone, 78, husband of Sylvia Maness Stone of Minnow Drive, died Sunday July 6, 2025 at his home.

Nettie Belle Thompson Gregory, 85, of Ware Shoals, widow of Bobby Lewis Gregory, Sr. died Sunday, July 6, 2025 at her home.
