Ware Shoals – William Douglas (Doug) Wells, 83 of 12597 Hwy. 25 Business, husband of Bonnie West Edwards Wells died Saturday at his home.

Honea Path – Sandra Deryle Culbertson, 66, of 216 Wildwood Drive, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at her home.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Louis Alvin and Elizabeth McClain Culbertson.  She was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church.

Honea Path – Grace Frances Smith Coleman Barnell, 83, widow of Robert Barnell, of 209 Goodrich Street, died Thursday August 18, 2011 at Rainey Hospice House.

Honea Path – Mr. Charles Otis Thompson, 85, husband of Clarice Ashley Thompson, formerly of 104 N. Shirley Ave., died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Mountain Home Health and Rehab in Hendersonville, NC. 

 Belton – Mrs. Elizabeth Coker Smith, 79, of 250 Corner Road, widow of William M. Smith, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at her home.

Williamston – Albert Douglas Ashley, 76, of 106 Payne Dr., husband of Janet Byers Ashley, died, Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at AnMed Health Medical Center. 

Ware Shoals – William Maurice “Red” Bowie, 91, husband of Sara Watt Bowie of 24 E. Summit Drive, died Sunday August 7, 2011.

Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of the late R. Wallace and Mary Lou Balentine Bowie. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and of the Calliham – Morgan Sunday School class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, was a shriner and a member of Ware Shoals Lodge #306 A.F.M. He was owner and operator of Bowie’s Grocery Store for more than 40 years and had most recently been employed by Piggly Wiggly in Ware Shoals. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
