Belton – Ray Douglas “Sonny” Lindsay, 72, widower of Sadie Bell Sullivan Lindsay, of 192 Lester Ashley Road, died Monday April 23, 2012 at AnMed Health Center.

Honea Path – Clara Mae Robinson, 84, of 104 Charles Burton Road, died Wednesday April 18, 2012 at AnMed Health Center from injuries sustained in a car wreck on April 9, 2012.

 Ware Shoals – Caroline Gambrell Wright 66, wife of Harold L. Wright, of 2 Holloway Drive A-2, died Wednesday April 18, 2012 at her home.

Honea Path – Alice Elizabeth Lowe Pruitt, 94, widow of Jesse C. Pruitt, of 4537 Keowee Rd. died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Hosanna Health and Rehab in  Piedmont. 

Belton – Clyde Junior McClain, 79, loving husband of Jerelean Agnes Campbell McClain for 62 years, of 1529 Bethany Church Rd., surrounded by his loving family died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at AnMed Health Center.

Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Colie and Kara Brock McClain. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church. He was retired from Honea Path Shirtmakers and Pruitt Funeral Home.

Surviving are his wife of the home, three sons, Dennis McClain and wife Elaine of Pelzer, Jackie McClain and wife Kathy of Piedmont, and Rickey McClain and wife Donna of Donalds, three daughters, Connie Brock and husband Mike of Honea Path, Debbie Hilton of Belton, and Donna Hoffstetter of Belton, two brothers, Bobby McClain of Honea Path and Johnny McClain of Abbeville, three sisters, Lilly Gambrell of Honea Path, Nancy Hill of Honea Path, and Sybil Eads of Christianburg, Va., thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grancchildren.

He was pre-deceased by a son, Tony Randall McClain, a daughter, Judy Earline McClain, a grandson, Travis Brock, two brothers, Michael and Gerald McClain, and a sister, Joyce “L.B.” Sartin.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Lee, Rev. Jerry Mize, and Rev. Carroll Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ware Shoals – Nellie Ethel Ridgeway O’Dell, 90, widow of Joseph Benjamin O’Dell, of 380 Martin Rd, died Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Hospice Care of the Piedmont. 

Ruby DeVore Vermillion   

Donalds – Ruby Lee DeVore Vermillion, 99, widow of William Harold “Bill” Vermillion, formerly of Highway 178, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.

Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late David Franklin and Pearl Vashti Drake DeVore. She was a retired bookkeeper for Dr. R. S. Clarke, and was a member of Greenville Presbyterian Church where she taught the Men’s Sunday School Class, before retiring. She was a Sunday School Teacher for 65 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Marie Gary and husband Albert of Augusta, Ga., two grandchildren, Natalie Desso and husband Casey of Irmo and Bert Gary and wife Lauren of Summerville, and four great-grandchildren, Anne Myers Gary, Kamp Gary, Emily Desso, and Forester Desso. She was pre-deceased by 5 brothers, Gene, John Newton, Lyman, Ernest, and Julian DeVore.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday at Greenville Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jonathan Bowling officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
