David “Doc” Roberts

Anderson – David “Doc” Parks Roberts, 91, of 201 Edgebrook Drive, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Barrow County, Ga. he was a son of the late Walter and Lizzed Garner Roberts. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church. He was a former member and deacon of both Shiloh Baptist of Anderson and Pine Grove Baptist of Clover. He was retired from Duke Energy and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, Bee keeping, and camping.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Georgia Lee Strickland Roberts of the home, three sons, Don Roberts and wife Margaret of Belton, Bennie Roberts and wife Martha of Hodges, and David Roberts and wife Susan of Clover, a daughter, Mrs. Linda Wilson and husband Steve of Honea Path, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He was the last surviving sibling of ten.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path, with burial to be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family is at the home of his daughter, Linda Wilson, 30 Armstrong Rd., Honea Path.
