Ann Henry
Honea Path – Annie Laura Ashley Henry, 92, widow of Walter Albert Henry,formerly of 315 N. Main St. Honea Path, SC, and The Maples Assisted Living, entered into her Heavenly Home on Friday, October 30, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House in
Anderson, SC.
Mrs. Henry was born in Abbeville County and she was the sixth child of her parents, the late Robert Roscoe Ashley and Ivy Lowe Ashley. She was a cherished sister and aunt during her lifetime; always thinking of others and very loyal to her family. She was a retired cosmetologist working with her sister-in-law Ginny Ashley as owners of Ginny-Ann Beauty Salon. She enjoyed her career of over 50 years and gained the friendship and acquaintance of many clients.
Mrs. Henry was a devoted and faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC for 60 years. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Eleanor DeVore Sunday School Class and formerly Director of the Children’s Sunday School Department until her health began to fail. Mrs. Henry had a love for music and as a memorial to her late husband, gave the hand bells to the church, utilizing the musical talents at First Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC. She was also a Charter Member and Past Worthy Matron of Order of the Eastern Star, Honea Path Chapter.
Mrs. Henry is pre-deceased by six brothers, Howard Ashley, J. Dale Ashley, Ben Ashley, Nathan Ashley, Jack Ashley, and Dan Ashley, three sisters, Gladys Ashley, Symanthia Burton, and Doris Frederick. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are three sister-in-laws, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
A service of Celebration of her life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at First Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC with Rev. Mike Moody, and Dr. Booker Bagby officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Garden of Memories beside her late husband.
The family is at the home her niece and nephew, Sylvia and Charles Heller, 5128 Keowee Rd. Honea Path, SC.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the music department of First Baptist Church, 100 S. Main St., Honea Path, SC 29654 or to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson SC 29621.
