Ellen Elizabeth Scott Wright
Honea Path – Mrs. Ellen Elizabeth Scott Wright, 83, formerly of 616 Due West Road, Honea Path, SC, widow of James Guy Wright, was called home by her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Mrs. Wright retired from the State of SC after teaching Cosmetology for many years at McDuffie High School in Anderson, SC. While in this position she held numerous offices in her Affiliate Cosmetology Chapter. She touched and molded many lives in their career paths. She also owned and operated a salon in her home. For the past few years she resided at The Maples in Honea Path, SC. She enjoyed her stay while residing there and loved all the residents as her family.
She was a devoted and faithful member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church. She served on the Flower Committee and co-chaired on the Home Bound Ministry Committee with Hazel Lusk. She was also a member of the Mildred Kay Sunday School Class and Sanctuary Choir.
Mrs. Wright is predeceased by her husband, James Guy Wright; and her parents, James Adger Scott and Mae Lollis Scott. She is survived by her sister, Vonnie Scott Ellis of Cheddar; and a brother Howard Scott, and wife Gloria of Honea Path, SC. Her extended family includes a special friend, Jorene McCutcheon and family of Greenwood, SC.; and God Daughter, Michelle McCoy Ballard of Hawaii. She leaves two nieces, Linda E. Webb of Belton, SC and Anne S. Lane of Mountville, SC; four nephews, Wayne Ellison of New Jersey, Earl Ellison of Honea Path, SC, David Scott, of Columbia, SC and Mark Scott, of Columbia, SC.
The family extends their appreciation to Mark Willis, Nancy Fleming, and all the staff of The Maples, for their love, care, and kindness shown to “Ellen”, during her stay there.
The family will receive friends at Barkers Creek Baptist Church, Honea Path, SC on Friday from 1 to 2:30 PM. Immediately following visitation, a Service of Celebration of her Life will be conducted by the Rev. Wesley Taylor and Mr. Mark Willis. She will be laid to rest in the Barkers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery beside her loving husband. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC 29621 or Barkers Creek Baptist Church, 3207 Highway 252, Honea Path, SC.
