James E. “Friday” Kay

Honea Path – James E. “Friday” Kay, 86, of 106 Griffin Farm Road, husband of Mildred Wright Kay, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Willow Creek Living Center in Iva.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Edgar W. and Mary Mitchell Kay. He was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church, Anderson Chapter of the D.A.V., American Legion Post 50 and Centre Lodge #37. He was a retired local Honea Path Businessman and a veteran of the U.S. Army, WWII having served in C.B.I. Theatre.

Surviving in addition to this wife of the home are two sons, James W. Kay and wife Joie and George W. Kay and wife Kathy G. all of Honea Path; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by two brothers, R. Mason Kay and George W. Kay.

Funeral Services will be held 3PM Thursday at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Taylor and Dr. Don Kay officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3PM Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
