Van Bruen Murdock

Honea Path – Mr. Van Bruen Murdock, 86, of 140 Van Circle, widower of Ellen Hammett Murdock, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at his home.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Carl and Eunice Fisher Murdock. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, a veteran in the U.S. Navy WWII. He was retired from Metric Shirt Plant and was a farmer.

Surviving are: two sons, Van M. Murdock and wife Cathy of Seneca and Steven H. Murdock of Belton; one daughter, Beth M. Keaton and husband Tim of Anderson; one brother, Joe Marion Murdock of Honea Path; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son Darrell R. Murdock, a brother Jack Murdock and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Culbertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
