Billy Hanks
Honea Path – Joe William “Billy” Hanks, 81, husband of Katie Cooley Hanks, of 101 Murray Ave. died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Anderson County he was a son of the late Clarence Hanks and Mae Gambrell Hanks Carroway. He was a member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church. He was a retired Deputy with Anderson County Sheriffs Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II.
Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons, Steve Hanks of Honea Path, Scott Hanks of Honea Path, a daughter, Linda Vaughn of Honea Path, a brother, Bruce Hanks of Honea Path, a sister, Ruby Thompson of Clemson, two step-sisters, Helen Needham and Ellen Green both of Charleston, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a son Joe Hanks and two brothers, Don and Allen Hanks.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Taylor and Rev. Boyd King officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
