Honea Path – Helen Banister Smith, 87, widow of Samuel Elmer Smith, formerly of Will Hanks Rd., died Monday, November 03, 2008 at Heartland Nursing Home in N. Charleston.

Born in Abbeville County she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Bertie Jones Banister. She was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan Hill and husband Bill of N. Charleston; a grandson, Donnie Hill and wife Karen of Cary, N.C., and a great-grandson, Tyler Hill of Cary, N.C. She was pre-deceased by a brother Elmer Banister, Jr. and Leonard Banister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at Keowee Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Mize officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
