Herman Griffin

Donalds – Herman Marvin Griffin, 99, widower of Ellen Young Griffin, formerly of Church St. Ext., died Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Springwood Nursing Home, Winston-Salem, N.C.

He was a native of Donalds, S.C. He was born October 16,1909, a son of the late James O. and Millie Bigby Griffin of Abbeville County. He was a member of Due West Baptist Church and was retired from Riegel Textile Co.. He was predeceased by his son, Rev. James A. Griffin, Sr., and two sisters, Miss Selma Griffin and Mrs. Gladys Hall.

Surviving are one daughter in law, Betty Sue Smith Griffin of Walkertown, N.C., a grandson, James A. Griffin, Jr., a granddaughter, Betty Arlene Griffin Ballow of Rustburg, Va, four great grandsons, and a nephew, Jake Hall.

Graveside services will be held at 10 A. M. Tuesday at Due West Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. There will be no public visitation. The body will lie in state on Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path. Online condolences may be made at www.parkerwhitepruitt.com
