William Daniel “Dan” Traynham, 62, 88 Tray Ridge Dr., husband of Ann Clamp Traynham died Monday, June 16, 2008 at his home. He was born in Greenwood County, a son of the late James William and Julia Ridgeway Traynham. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church where he was an active Deacon and former R.A. Counselor. He was on the Cemetery Committee and Building and Grounds Committee and Fellowship Committee.
He was retired Supervisor of Streets and Sanitation for the Town of Ware Shoals. He was a founder and first chairman of the Annual Catfish Feastival and he installed the Christmas lights in memory of his parents, brother and a nephew. He was retired in 2006
from the Town of Ware Shoals after 32 years.
Mr. Traynham was a 1964 graduate of Ware Shoals High School, formerly a member of the local National Guard Unit # 151, the Ware Shoals Masonic Lodge #306, the Ware Shoals School Board and the past president of the Ware Shoals Athletic Assn.
He was active in the Sports Program, coached Little League baseball, football and basketball. He was an avid NASCAR fan, Clemson fan and a Ware Shoals Hornets fan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 pm at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and Rev. Chris Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Walter Thompson, Phil O’Dell, Ken McAlister, Don Jackson, Brent and Shannon Calvert , Tommy Davis, David Howard, Charlie Stone and Jake Davis
The honorary escort will be Mark and Mike Wells, Active and Inactive Deacons of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church, Dako Davis, Tommy Amick, Wayne Fricks, Billy Hudgens, Doug Kuykendall, David Ross and Curtis Johnson.
Besides his wife of the home are: Daughters, Lynn Reaves and husband Terry, Ware Shoals, Linda Yates and husband, Brent, Laurens, and one son, Billy Traynham and wife Rachel, Laurens. An honorary son, Joey Ward, Ware Shoals, Also a sister, Judy T. Brown and husband Bruce of Anderson, sister-in-law, Lynn Traynham, Ware Shoals and grandchildren: Amber Reaves Hoffer and husband, Jody, and Christopher Reaves , Ware
Shoals, Sophia and Stella Traynham, Laurens, and William Yates, Laurens. Also many loving nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Larry Traynham and a nephew Lee Traynham.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Tuesday at Parker-White Funeral
