William Odell Smith
Derby, Kansas – William “Buck” Odell Smith, 71, of 1450 Montana St., went to be with Our Lord on Wednesday, April 30, 2008.
Born in Hackleburg, Alabama he was a son of the late William Perry and Lizzie Belle Whitfield Smith. He was a much loved son and brother, a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. His passion was fishing. There was neither weather to bad nor any distance too far to wet a hook.
Surviving are two sisters, Marty S. Taul and husband Glen and Carolyn A. Frank and husband Ron, all of Derby, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews in both Kansas and South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Gilmer and Rev. James Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Pruitt Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 South Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202.
