Sara Hamby

Honea Path – Mrs. Sara Jane Gambrell Hamby, 89, formerly of 402 Elizabeth Street, widow of James Milford Hamby, died Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Jesse French and Betty Elizabeth Bagwell Gambrell. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was retired from Wometco of Anderson.

Surviving are; three sons, Larry Hamby of San Antonio, TX, Wallace Hamby of Surfside Beach, and Mike Hamby of Seneca; one daughter, Gloria Bolden of Honea Path; twenty one grandchildren, forty six great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by one daughter, Brenda Hart.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Tab Scarborough, Rev. Mike Bowen, Rev. Jerry Mize and Rev. Tim Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family will received friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home. The family is at the home of daughter, Gloria Bolden, 928 Tornado Road.
