Born in Honea Path to the late William Ralph Alexander and the late Grace Louise Stone Alexander Phillips, he retired from Torrington and served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Honea Path Church of God.
In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his two sons: Terry Alexander (Vickie) of Honea Path and Mark Alexander (Sharon) of North Augusta; his daughter: Melinda Chapman (Phil) of Honea Path; seven grandchildren: Jared Chapman, Alee Chapman McNeil, Doug Alexander, Miranda Bazemore, Jacob Chapman, Meredith Alexander and Anna Alexander; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at 1 P.M. at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eric Shuler and Rev. Charles Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow at M. J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
