Born in West Union, SC, he was a son of the late Arthur Tillman Johnson, and the late William R. and Elsie Simpson Thomason. He was a faithful member of West Main Street Church of God, where he served as clerk for more than 9 years, and retired from Monsanto. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Odell was a member of Rock n Roll Cruisers and loved his cars. He was always looking for ways to help anyone and loved helping his neighbors. Most of all, Odell loved his wife and his family.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of the home are: one son, Robert “Bobby” Johnson and his wife Terri of Ware Shoals, one granddaughter, Leandra Landers and her husband Mathew of Ware Shoals, and one great-grandson, Ryan Landers.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, “JT” Johnson and Lonnie Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, May 29th, 2026 at West Main Street Church of God with Rev. Brian Dye and Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service.
