Born in Greenville County he was a son of the late Jennings Bryan and Lou Ethel Langford Tumblin. He was of the Baptist faith, a Master Mason, he was a graduate of Laurens High School. He was retired of the SCANG for 22 years, and later retired from Greenwood Industries. He was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are a son, Bryan Tumblin (Tonya) of Hickory Tavern and a sister-in-law, Dianne Gunter of Waterloo.
