Kathy Seawright

Kathy Seawright, 75, was called home to heaven on Thursday, July 31st. She passed peacefully at her home in Donalds, South Carolina, comforted in presence of her loving family. While she will continue to be loved and missed by many, we can rejoice that she is at everlasting peace in the presence of the Lord.

Born Kathy Anne Richey of Travelers Rest South Carolina to the late parents Jessie Calhoun Richey and Mary Louise Campbell Richey, she graduated from Dixie High School in 1968, where she also received her cosmetology license.

She married her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry Lee Seawright in 1968, and after 15 years marriage, Kathy had what she would consider her biggest blessing, two children. Justin Lee Seawright, born 1983, now a resident of Honea Path, and Jessica Louise Seawright, born 1985, now also a resident of Honea Path.

After building a home in Donalds, Kathy opened a beauty shop that she ran for 22 years before going to work in the school cafeteria for Anderson School District 2, where she retired as the Honea Path elementary cafeteria manager in 2015. After her retirement, she loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Kathy was a member and elder of Greenville Presbyterian Church, where she also served as the church treasurer. An active member of the community and extended church family, she was a blessing to all that knew her. Her kindness extended to everyone she came into contact with, and exemplified the Christian beliefs she held so dear. The love she shared so endlessly with family and friends was evident in the weeks leading to her passing, where a seemingly endless stream of people arrived to visit with her, and let her know just how much she was loved.

She is survived by her husband Jerry Seawright, son, Justin Seawright, daughter, Jessica Stewart (Jamey), grandchildren, Emily Stewart, Jackson Stewart, Callan Seawright, and Annistyn Seawright.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, brother, Joe Allen Richey, and sister, Nancy Richey McConnell.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, August 4 at Greenville Presbyterian Church, Donalds, SC with Rev. Donovan Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
