She was raised in Ware Shoals, graduated from Ware Shoals High in the class of 1970, and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
She taught K5 and first grade in Belton, Ware Shoals, Greenville, Laurens, and Gray Court and home schooled her children for several years. She was a member of Mount Gallagher Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Ware Shoals .
She was devoted to her family and her husband, children, and grandchildren were the joy of her life. She loved her family and friends with her whole heart. She loved to read, crochet, quilt, scrapbook, sew, and other crafts. She was a member of the choir at First Baptist for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School, VBS, and Training Union. She also helped with children’s choir for many years. Anne loved missions and was a GA and RA leader for over 20 years. She had been a Cub Scout leader and was active in the Athletic Association at WSHS. She also led the Released Time program for 2 years.
Anne loved to travel and had visited all 50 states, 4 continents, and 15 countries. She was blessed to be able to go on several mission trips to China, Kenya ,and Tanzania which were among the highlights of her life. When the local newspaper, The Observer, closed, she started a Facebook page, Ware Shoals News, that has over 7,400 followers.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years , John H. Davis and sons, Dr. Clayton Houston Davis (Kathryn), of Franklin, NC, Dr. Lucas H. Davis (Christy), of Evans ,Ga and Tyler J. Davis (Clairissa), of Candler, NC, and grandchildren, McKenzie, Clay, Emma Grace, and Lily Anne Davis of Franklin, NC, Presley Davis, Kyle, Holt, and Brant Young, and Parker McDaniel of Evans, Ga, Skyler Lawson (Ben) of Goose Creek, SC, Sullivan Davis and Curran Gillespie of Candler, NC, and 2 great grandchildren, Hadley and Ryleigh Lawson of Goose Creek, SC, 2 Brothers, Joseph Pritchard (Paige), of Franklin, NC and Thomas Pritchard (Lori) of Clairmont, FL, sisters-in-love Rebecca C. Pritchard of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Elaine Pritchard of Columbus, OH, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly along with their children. She also leaves behind many children that she taught in school, church, and other organizations, as well as best friends Renee, Anna, and Lindsay, and Abby, who was her constant companion.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Dr. Paul B. Pritchard III, Dr. Richard H. Pritchard, Phd, and Robert Pritchard, and best friend, Debbie Hudgens, and faithful companion, Daisy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 5:30 PM at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Nathan Wiles, Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop, and Rev. Dr. Floyd Parker officiating.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 PM at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church prior to the service.
