Mike Nalley

Michael Jerome Nalley, 76, of Honea Path, passed away on June 21, 2025, at the Rainey Hospice House. He was born on September 20, 1948, to the late Roy and Elizabeth Thompson Nalley.

 


Mike is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Caroline Hughes Nalley, of the home. Together they raised two sons: John Michael Nalley (Leslie) of Honea Path, and Jeremy Mitchell Nalley (Kelli) of Belton. He is also survived by his brother, David Nalley (Roxanne) of Honea Path; grandchildren, Wyatt and Zoe Nalley of Belton; step-grandchildren, Kendall Prieto (Andrew) of Tennessee, Marlee Griffin, and Sydney Griffin of Pendleton; and step-great-grandchildren, Aiden of Honea Path, and Ivy, Hunter, and Michael of Tennessee. One great niece, Estell Nalley of Honea Path. One sister in law Martha Evelyn Hughes of Honea Path.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jesse and Susie Thompson, and John and Eula Nalley. One niece, Larue Nalley.


Mike was employed at Blair Mills in Belton for 22 years. He later owned and operated Ninety-Six Industrial Laundry and Royal Cleaners in Honea Path. A dedicated and accomplished individual, Mike earned his Eagle Scout rank at the age of 12, one of the youngest to do so at the time. He was a member of Chiquola Baptist Church in Honea Path and was saved at the age of seven. He proudly maintained perfect attendance in Sunday School until he was 17.
A 1966 graduate of the final class of Honea Path High School, Mike went on to earn a degree in psychology and biology from Lander University in 1972. He obtained his private pilot's license in 1984. Mike also served in the Abbeville unit of the South Carolina National Guard, where he was recognized with a sharpshooter award. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and above all, he cherished time with his family.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Austin Road Baptist Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Garden of Memories with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 P.M.
