Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Thomas “Tommy” Lamar O’Dell and the late Nancy Hodges O’Dell. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church and was employed for over 23 years by Southern Wholesale of Greenwood. He was a veteran of the South Carolina Army National Guard. A 1983 graduate of Ware Shoals High School, he attended the Citadel, Lander College, and graduated with a BS in Business from Clemson University.
Jeff was an avid fisherman, duck hunter, and college football fan who begrudgingly wore Tennessee Orange for his wife and kids. He was the founder of the Five Lakes Fishing Club, a member of the Carolina Cajun Duck Club, and a member of the Cambridge Chapter of the South Carolina Son’s of the Revolution.
Surviving are his wife of the home, a son Gideon Hodges O’Dell of the home, a daughter MacKenzie Marie O’Dell of the home, two brothers, Brad O’Dell (Melanie) of Ware Shoals and Paul O’Dell (Sara) of Greenwood, a sister-in-law, Kirsten Davis, nephews, Thomas O’Dell and Dalton Boyter, numerous cousins, special friends, Bo Hurley, Scottie Price, Gary Davis, and Ed Felton and Nurses, Alicia, Chaney, Leigh, Abigail, Liz, and Meg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday at the church prior to the service.
