Born in 1930 to the late Cleo Monroe Sr. and Grace Day Andrews in Hughesville PA and grew up there. He graduated from Hughesville High School in 1950. Following school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for four years. He was deployed to the territory of Alaska and was appointed the body guard to the Commanding General of Alaskan Air Command. He was then sent to Donaldson Air Force Base, where his met his wife of 68 years, Mary Gray Tate. He attended Columbia Baptist Church in Princeton. He was a Mason and Past Master of Princeton Lodge and a dual member of Brewington Lodge. He had been a member of the Williamsport PA Consistory for more than 60 years. Mr. Andrews was a charter member of the Piedmont Park Fire Department and was a former member of Dunklin Fire Department, having attained the rank of Captain. Andy worked in construction for many years. Since retirement, he has made many furniture items in his wood working shop. All he made he gave away to relatives and friends. For many years, Andy had planted and harvested a huge garden on his property and gave away most of what he grew.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of the home are: his son, Chuck Andrews of Piedmont; two grandchildren, Cheryl Baker and Christopher Andrews; two great-grandchildren, Orion Baker and Lyric Andrews; and a sister, Bernadine Bell of Williamsport PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Andrews and Donald Andrews; and two sisters, Ellen Housenecht and Tiuti Dixson.
Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be held at 3 P.M. Friday, December 13, 2024 at Graceland West Cemetery, 4814 White Horse Rd, Greenville, SC 29611, with Rev. Travis Brooks officiating.
