Marvin Ray Crawford, age 81, husband of Mary Henderson Crawford, of Riverview Road died on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

A native of Greer, South Carolina, he was born on March 22, 1943, the son of Horace and Azalee Crawford, who predeceased him.  He was a 1961 graduate of Greer High School and Vice President of the Senior Class. Marvin enjoyed golf and was an avid Gamecock fan as well as a loyal baseball fan of the Braves.  During his earlier years, he ventured into politics and was Chairman of the Greenwood County Council. His sense of humor was legendary and he had a larger than life personality with the unique ability to be a friend to everyone. He was a former member of the Greenwood Country Club and was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.

Surviving him are his wife, Mary Henderson Crawford, and his sons, William Gregory Holtzclaw (Lynn) of Abbeville, SC  and Christian Ray Crawford (DeLane) of Anderson, SC, three granddaughters, Alexis Crawford, Lauren Crawford and Caitlin Crawford, his brother, Howard Crawford and his sisters, Joan Ballenger, Vicki Browning, and Mary Hudson.   He is also survived by his daughter in law, Jean Crawford of Ware Shoals, and her children, Dawn Tyre (Mac), Leslie Werts (Jeff), Maggie Jameson (Clay), Haley Jameson, and grandchildren, Autumn and Savannah Werts, and Annabella Jameson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
