Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Humphrey and Maggie Mae McNinch Kay. He was an active member of the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher. He was retired Safety Director for Smith and Waters, and was a member of the Ware Shoals Gideon Camp.
Surviving are three daughters, Jennifer Kay Balentine of Donalds, Kristi Kay Freeman of Ware Shoals, and Dana Kay Nash (Chuck) of Abbeville, grandchildren, Shana Paxton (Jason), Brooke Balentine Brownlee (Braden), and Katie Lee Nash Kelly(Taylor), great-grandchildren, Ryland, Azleigh, Brecken, and Cambryn Paxton, Baby Brownlee and Baby Kelly
In addition to his parents, and wife, he was predeceased by a step-father, Lawrence Davis and a step-sister, Frances Davis O’Dell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Parker officiating. Graveside services will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Leon Jones officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM at the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church prior to the service on Wednesday.
