Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Thomas ”Shorty” Pennell and Edna Holland Strickland. He was a proud member of the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. After retiring from as an engineer from Flour Daniel he enjoyed cattle farming. He was a kind and generous man who volunteered in the church and community in many ways. Pee Wee never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with a warm smile and a charismatic joke.
Surviving are his wife, Delma, of the home, a son Rev. Mark Strickland (Shelley) of Greenwood, a daughter, Vicki S. Randolph of Ware Shoals, a devoted brother, Dr. Billy Strickland of Laurens, eight grandchildren, Siera Gary (Matt), Sheyene Johnson (Robbie), Deidre Williamson (Brandon), Ty Randolph (Ashley), Jacob Strickland, Haley Strickland, Andrew Strickland, and Jenna Strickland, and six great grandchildren, Baylor Gary, Marki Johnson, Madi Randolph, Grady Williamson, Greer Williamson, and Genevieve Williamson.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Janie Strickland Fulmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at The Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Stickland and Dr. Floyd Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM at the church prior to the service on Tuesday.
