Born in Ridge Springs SC, he was a son of the late Harold Edwin Sr. and Nettie Mae Kirkland McCarty. He was of the Southern Methodist faith and retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He graduated from Piedmont Technical College where he was named Alumni of the year and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from California Coast University. Harold had a very distinguished career in textiles, having served in many mills and communities. He was past President of Chiquola Mills in Honea Path SC. He also served on various boards through out his life representing his work and his community.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 55 years of the home are: two sons, R. Brian McCarty of Anderson and Matthew (Erika) McCarty of Easley; his brother, George (Sissy) McCarty of Ninety Six; his sister, Joann Laingham of Ninety Six; and two grandchildren, Natalie McCarty and Kensley McCarty.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 P.M Tuesday evening, September 10, 2024, at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path SC.
