Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James Harold and Vivian Jeanette Mattison Wells. He was a member of Welcome Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He retired from Greenville County Public Works.
Surviving are: two daughters, Rhonda Babb of Donalds and Jodie Simmons (David) of Laurens; seven grandchildren: Jameson “Pete” Wells (Emily), Joseph Babb, Will Babb, Sierra Hostetler, Alexandria Miller, Chesney Simmons, and Breanna Simmons; and six great-grandchildren: Adley, Audrey, Wyatt, Kylen, Ezekiel, and Emmerson.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Lesa Pauline Wells and a brother, James “Hootie” Wells, Jr.
Funeral services will be heldat 2 PM on Sunday, August 18 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals with Rev. David Robinson and Rev. Donnie Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
