Roy “Pete” Mattison

Donalds – Roy “Pete” Alvin Mattison, 90, widow of Doris Jeanette Davenport Mattison, of Highway 252, died Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Clifton Williams and Virginia “Jack” Gaddis Mattison. He was a member of Genesis Church and was retired from the Dye House, Mt. Vernon Mills, Ware Shoals. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War and was a member of the Ware Shoals Lodge #306 A.F.M.

Surviving are two nephews, Rickey Timms (Roxine) of Waterloo and Carroll Strickland (Amy) of Donalds, Austin Meyers (Reagen) of Ware Shoals, a brother, David C. Mattison of Honea Path, and a sister, Norma Abercrombie of Greenwood. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother Jack Benny Mattison.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals, with Rev. Mark Vaughn and Rev. Greg Nix officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM on Wednesday at Parker-White Funeral Home prior to the service. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Rodrine Buffaloe and all of the staff of Hospice of the Piedmont.
