Katie Bell Lollis

Katie Bell Phillips Lollis, 95, of Donalds went on her last journey on July 11, 2024 when she finally met Jesus face to face. This journey was planned when she asked Jesus into her heart many, many years ago. She would often say “God is good” and now she gets to experience the goodness of God and reunite with her beloved husband Leon, who has been gone since 2009.

Katie was the daughter of the late Tarrant and Fannie Ethel Roark Phillips. She loved life, her family, her friends, and her church. She was a longtime member at Winona Baptist Church and later attended Austin Road Baptist Church.

She leaves behind her two sons, James “Slick” (Mary Ann) and Randal (Teresa), three grandchildren, Michelle Autry (Dallas), Joshua Lollis (Andrea), and Jonathan Lollis (Jane-Marie), five great-grandchildren, Samantha Autry, Laney Lollis, Gabriel Hazlett, Holly Lollis, and Hannah Lollis.

Katie had a large family. Her only surviving sibling is Betty Malone. She is predeceased by thirteen other siblings, David, Alton, Furman, Bob, Inez, Ruth, Hazel, Claude, Clyde, Jerry, Jim “Catbutter”, Lillie Mae, and Lois.

Katie Bell, as many knew her, worked many years at Huggins Garment Company. Upon retirement, she decided she wasn’t ready to slow down so she went to work in the cafeteria at Erskine college for quite a few more years. She did finally retire for good from there.

While her family is sad to no longer see her smiling face or hear her witty comebacks, they are at peace knowing she lived a full life to the very end, even after dementia stole her away.

To honor her memory, go pick up some limbs in the yard, rake some leaves, or take a leisurely walk up the street. The biggest honor to her would be make sure you are saved and join her rejoicing in heaven. As she would say - God is Good!

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 14 at Pruitt Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 PM, prior to the service.
