Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Paul Leroy “Red” Bowen, Sr. and Hazel Noffz. A loving husband of 59 years and a great father, he attended Honea Path Church of God of Prophecy and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Piedmont Tech with an AA in Heating and Air Conditioning, was employed in the machine shop at Timken of Honea Path, and an IFR rated Private Pilot.

Surviving are his wife, Helen of the home, a son, Shannon Bowen of Ware Shoals, two daughters, Paula Ann Allen (Justin) of Ware Shoals and Marva DeAnn Allen (Jason) of Ware Shoals, a brother, Grover Hardin, four sisters, Nancy Tolly, Sandra Wofford, Ollie Pitman, and Deborah Gossett, five grandchildren, Kelsy Johnson (Carson), Erin Allen, Nathan Allen, Emma Chandler, and Eva Allen, and a great granddaughter, Wrenly Grace Johnson.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, James, a sister, Diane and a son-in-law, Stephen Chandler.

Family Memorial services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at the Ware Shoals Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Susan Allen, Rev Mark Lowe, and Rev. Keith Crocker officiating.

The family is at the home of a daughter Paula Allen, 120 Smith Street Extension, Ware Shoals and will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM at the church prior to the service.
