Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Ivan and Margaret Gilreath Elgin. She was of the Christian faith, and was a homemaker. She adored her family, her friends, her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved watching them play baseball, which led to a love of the sport. She was also an avid thrifter.

Mrs. Coker is survived by her son Keith Coker and wife Tammy of Honea Path, her daughter Crystal Alewine and husband Mike of Honea Path, two brothers: Danny Elgin of Williamston and Steve Elgin of Belton; seven sisters: Velma Ray of Anderson, Linda Foster of Williamston, Sheila Kelly of Williamston, Deborah Frankum of Belton, Carol Rutledge of Belton, Cindy Rutledge of Belton, and Angie Freeman of Greenville; four grandchildren: Lindsay Jordan and husband Harley, Chase Coker and wife Hannah, Hunter Alewine and Noah Alewine; and two great-grandchildren: Grayson Jordan and Stetson Jordan.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; David and Ricky Elgin; and her sister Faye Meyers.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, May 13 2024 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path with Rev. Alan Rhodes and Mr. Dale Etheridge officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM prior to the service at Pruitt Funeral Home.
