Betty Joyce was born July 6, 1938 in Anderson County to the late Carroll and Edna Burton. Known for her humble disposition, Betty was a witnessing Christian in her daily life. Her faith rested in Jesus and she wanted everyone to know Him, as she did. Betty was first and foremost a homemaker and ran a small farm when her husband was working out of town. She worked outside of the home for the Abbeville County School District when her children were of school age and later worked at Huggins Garment Company in Donalds, SC. What mattered most to her, however, was her loving husband Billy of 68 years, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and good friends.
Betty is survived by her husband William “Billy” Henry Ashley, Jr. of Donalds; four of her five children Pamela Griffin of Anderson, William “Chuck” Ashley(Pam) of Summerville SC, Wendy Ashley of Belton, and Angie Causley of Abbeville; six grandchildren, Deidre Kelly(Patrick)of Greenville, Jessica Griffin of Anderson, Boyce Wilson(Allison) of Greenwood, Robyn Smith(Mark) of Williamston, SC, Ryan Ashley(Denise) of Aiken, SC, Dixie Ross(Stephen) of Honea Path; fifteen great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Logan, Madison, Addison, Morgan, Cheyenne, Ethan, Charleston, Baylee, Jakob, Gage, Cooper, Maddox, Trudy and Hayzen.
Betty was predeceased by her daughter Theresa Wilson, two sons-in-law, David Griffin and Mike Causley and four siblings, Harold Burton, Charles Ray Burton, Hazel Morgan and Joe Burton.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery, May 4th at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 4640 Keowee Rd. Honea Path, SC 29654.
