Born in Laurens County, he was son of the Woodrow and Ruby Nell Prather Madden. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church and had worked in the construction industry. He was formerly employed by Erskine College Facility Maintenance. Steve loved playing the guitar and gardening. He was always funny and enjoyed making people laugh.

Surviving are: his loving companion and caregiver, Peggy Earline Gambrell Madden of Honea Path; two sons, Ethan Chase (Holly) Madden of West Pelzer and Steven Blake Madden of Honea Path; a daughter, Tracy (Jason) Madden of Ware Shoals; three sisters, Libby (Stan) Price of Murrells Inlet, Judy (Junior) McClain of Lake Greenwood, and Carol Sue Moore of Laurens; three grandchildren, Latrae Jenkins, Kennedi Smith and Mason Robinson; two great-grandchildren, Adilee and Jensen; and numerous nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Mr. Madden was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lyndea Noel Madden; two brothers, Gerald “Buster” Madden and Tony Madden; and five sisters, Dotsie Davis, Mavis Barger, Shirley Shealy, Rhonda Dunaway, and Martha Lark.

Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.

The family is at the home of his son Chase and will receive friends from 12-1 P.M. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
