Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Watson and Ora Allen Powell. She was a member of the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was active in the nursery and women’s auxiliary. She was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School Class of 1946. She was retired from Richloom of Ware Shoals.
Surviving are a son, Dennis Ray Gilmer (Lisa) of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Carolyn Gilmer Lewis (Ronnie) of Greenwood, five grandchildren, Shaina O’Dell (Brandon), Haley Gilmer, Kathy Price (Autumn), Jimmy Price (Jaime), and Kristin Wells, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Gilmer was predeceased by a son, Ronald Gilmer, a brother, Woodrow “Buster” Allen, two sisters, Mozelle Simpson and Louvene Dunn, and a granddaughter, Brandy Neathery.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Anthony Irby officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will be at her home on Monday from 11 AM to 6 PM, 32 Green Acres Drive, Ware Shoals, and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM on Tuesday at the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church prior to the service.
