He was born on West Greer St. in Honea Path on February 11, 1936 to the late John W., Sr. and Sarah Wiles Armstrong. He was a long time member of the Honea Path Presbyterian Church. After graduating from Honea Path High School, he attended Presbyterian College before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served with the 187 and 503 Airborne Infantry in Germany.

He was employed by OCF at the Anderson and Aiken Plants and worked many years in textile related industries.

The last member of his surviving family, he is survived by his daughters, Marie Coker (Butch) of Lawrenceville, GA, Lisa Begley (Phil) of Greer, Kristy Smith (Randy) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Nicole “Coe” Andrews of Greer, Grandchildren, Casey, Chelsey, Hannah, Seth, Rachel, and Haley, and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, James Henry Armstrong.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path, with Mr. Phil Begley officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will be at their respective homes and will speak to friends after the service at Pruitt Funeral Home.
