Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Mattie Dukes Gilmer. She was a member of the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was active as pianist and organist for many years, and also filled in at various local churches when the need arose. She had worked for the Honea Path Senior Citizen Center and was a member of TOPS, Anderson Chapter. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Surviving are a granddauther, Lindsey Branyon (Mikey) of Anderson, a grandson, Matthew Branyon (Shannon) of Anderson, a niece raised in the home, Nikki Dubose of Honea Path, and her children and grandchildren, Anthony (Heather), Kobi (Trinity), Sam, Marselia, and Waylon.

In addition to her parents and husband, Buster, she was predeceased by a son, Randy “Pearhead” Branyon, four brothers, Paul, Roy, William, and Olin Gilmer, and five sisters, Louise McCurry, Frances Shaw, Evelyn Cox, Sula Davis, and Nellie Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Shane Elrod, Rev. Sherrill Green, and Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will be private.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
