Susan was born on October 19, 1951 in Augusta, Georgia to Arnold and Irene Pardue Powell. She graduated from Belton-Honea Path High School in 1969, and later attended Forrest Junior College. Larry and Susan were married on May 11,1974 and celebrated 49 years of marriage this year. In her earlier career, Susan worked for Welborn Chevrolet, and later she faithfully served Honea Path First Baptist Church as their receptionist for 27 years. After retiring, she enjoyed substitute teaching in Anderson District 2. Susan was a long-time member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, and in her spare time she enjoyed going to thrift stores and spending time with her family.

Susan is survived by: her husband, Larry Dale Bannister, of the home; her two children, Travis Bannister of Greenwood, and Jessica (Tom) Dorn of Saluda. She loved being a Susu to her two grandchildren, Emma Legare Dorn and Luke Thomas Dorn of Saluda. She is also survived by her siblings: Sharon (Jimmy) Parnell of Iva, Richard (Kay) Powell of Anderson, Janis (Rick) Baskin of Fair Play, and Randy (Cindy) Powell of Hickory Tavern, along with many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She is predeceased by her parents.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her caregivers over the last year, especially Sonja Scott and Tephanie Ashley.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Mt Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Krieger and Rev. Richard Powell officiating. Burial will be private.

The family is at the home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. Saturday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path.
