Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Alexander and Dora Holliday Cooley. He attended Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church and retired from Daniel Construction and Cryovac. He also was one of the first employees hired at Torrington. He was a homebuilder and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was very active in the Honea Path Rescue Squad as an EMT in its early years. Henry has been called The Rock of his family by his nieces and nephews.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years are: his son, Randy (Wanda) Cooley of Honea Path; his daughter, Connie (Tony) Smith of Belton; a sister, Peggy Rainey of Pelzer; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Brittney) Cooley, Tonya (Andrew) Hershman, Hannah (Joshua) Morton and Eastin Cooley; four great-grandchildren, Grayson Cooley, Avery Cooley, Jake Cooley and Greer Morton; and many special nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John Cooley, Sam Cooley, and L.J. Cooley; and eight sisters, Geneva Crawford, Margaret King, Minnie Emory, Katie Hanks, Sue Cooley, Martha Williams, Mary Ruth Cooley and Bobbie Cooley.

Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 22, 2023 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Shane Elrod and Dr. Tony Smith officiating.

The family is at the home of his daughter Connie in Belton and will receive friends after the service at the funeral home.
