Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Jim and Jimmie Ashley McCoy. He was a member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Chiquola Manufacturing Co. He enjoyed raising and selling farm animals, chickens and rabbits, and selling them at the Anderson Jockey Lot.
Surviving are a son Teddy McCoy (Michelle) of Honea Path, three brothers, Fred Dean McCoy of Anderson, Curtis Samuel McCoy of Anderson, and Thomas Ray McCoy of Craytonville, three sisters, Etrulia Bell of Craytonville and Dorothy Jean Brown of Newberry, and Edith Brock of Belton, eleven grandchildren, Teddy Jr., Krystal, Kacee, Haley, Timmy, Terry, Angel, Randy, Brandi, Tracy, Jennifer, twenty-five great-grandchildren, Whitley, Trinity, Nevaeh, Katilyn, Keira, Karleigh, Konner, Elijah, Mason, Tony, Clark, Issiac, Navannah, Nataile, Landon, Gabrielle, Dakota, Allie, Tessa, Brooke, Cameron, Bradley, Brittnay, Cheyenne, and Austin, and ten great-great-grandchildren, Jasper, Mateo, Braxton, Kyler, Bentley, Liam, Mia, Ava, Lillie, and Oaklynn.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, Sybil, two sons, Randy McCoy and Kenneth McCoy, a brother, Junior McCoy, a sister, Minnie Lee MacMahan, a grandson, Travis, and a great-great granddaughter, Eliana.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel, Honea Path with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
