Born in Abbeville County he was a son of the late Edward McCoy and the late Betty Jane Prince Nelson. He was a retired Auto Mechanic.
Surviving are a son, James Edward McCoy (Sara) of Donalds and a step-son, Floyd Ray Horne, Jr. 2nd of Ware Shoals, and eight grandchildren, Nikki Sharpe (Andrew), Karissa Baskins (Brian), Matthew Hill, Emmalee McCoy, Tonya Ross, Jessica Ross, Crystal Coker, and Floyd Horne, Jr. 3rd, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, three step-daughters: Linda Ann Horne Coker, Judy Karen Horne, and Patricia Lynn Horne Ross, and his sister, Linda Faye Cobb.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM at Ware Shoals Cemetery on Friday, July 7, with Rev. Todd Leach officiating.
The family is at their respective home and will receive friends after the service at the cemetery. The family wishes to give a special thanks Caris Healthcare of Greenwood.
