Born in Memphis, TN, he was a son of the late Julius and Mary Ann Barcroft Worley. He was a member of Mercy Tree Baptist Church in Iva. John graduated from Mars Hill University, where he played college baseball and met his future wife, in 1979 with a BS degree in Sports Medicine. He retired from Liberty High School, where he served as P.E. Coach and coached baseball, softball, and football. John’s legacy was being the founder and owner of God’s Legacy Ranch, a ministry in Honea Path that is known for rescuing horses who can also ‘rescue” people by providing Christian biblical counseling with Equestrian Assisted Therapy.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 42 years of the home are: his son, Justin Worley of Due West; his daughter, Chessene (Joseph) Turner of Liberty; three grandchildren, Jep Turner, Johnny Turner, and Eberly Turner; two brothers, Don (Catlin) Worley of Clinton and Tim (Reita) Worley of Greenville; and three brothers-in-law; James (Melanie) O’Neal of Ocala, FL, David (Kimberly) O’Neal of Mount Dora, FL, and Robert (Kathy) O’Neal of Lake Worth, FL.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ron Worley.
Graveside services will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at God’s Legacy Ranch, 189 Bratcher Drive, Honea Path, SC 29654, with Rev. Drew Martin and Rev. Gene Brooks officiating.
The family is at the home and will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
