Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James R. and Helen Daniel McEntyre. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church. A graduate of Belton High School, he was retired after 44 years of service with AT&T, and had served in the South Carolina Army National Guard. He was a member of Centre Lodge #37 A.F.M. for 46 years. Donnie served Scouting from 1982 to 2000 and was Scout Master of Troop #5 from 1984 to 1994 and had 17 Eagle Scouts during that time. He received the District Order of Merit, The Silver Beaver, and Vigil Honor of Atta Kulla Kulla Lodge # 185.
Surviving are three sons, Tracy McEntyre, Shawn McEntyre, and Brandon McEntyre, and a granddaughter, Danielle Allen (Candace). He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife of 57 years, Linda, and a brother, Jimmy McEntyre.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Austin Road Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Garden of Memories.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Austin Road Baptist Church.
