Born in Abbeville County, he was son of the late John Robert and Elise Crawford Nickles. He was a life long member of Greenville Presbyterian Church, where he previously served as elder and treasurer. Mr. Nickles was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He retired from the United States Postal Service as the Donalds SC Postmaster. He was a diehard Clemson Tiger fan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Surviving are: three daughters, Elaine Broadus of Charlottesville VA, Amy (Jim) Latimer of Alpharetta GA, and Karen (Marion) Bledsoe of Johnston SC; nine grandchildren, Brenna Broadus, Morgan Broadus, Tyler Latimer, Connor Latimer, Casey Bledsoe, Tucker Bledsoe, Hunter Bledsoe, Gavin Bledsoe, and Bryson Bledsoe.
Mr. Nickles was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his son, Robert Stanford Nickles; a daughter, Janet kaye Nickles; his brother, Howard Nickles; and his sister, Grace Johnson.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Garden of Memories with Rev. Thomas Pitman officiating.
