Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Furman and Eva Ashley. He was a member of Mt Bethel Baptist Church where he had formerly served as a Deacon. Mr. Ashley was a member and former Chief of the Craytonville Fire Department. He was retired from Torrington.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 55 years of the home are: a brother, Winfred (Donna Sue) Ashley of Honea Path; and a sister, Marian Bratcher of Honea Path; a special niece, who was like a daughter, Pam Madden of Anderson; three nephews, who were like grandsons, Jared (Carrington) Burdette, Layne Burdette, and Grant Burdette.
Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and seven sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Mt Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Krieger officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories.
