Born in Abbeville County, he was the son of the late Jefferson Wesley and Edna Grace Hughes Branyon. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and retired from serving as a Bi-Lo truck driver. Johnny was a US Army Veteran, having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He loved farming and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 66 years of the home are: his son, Dean (Tonya) Branyon of Abbeville; his daughter, Karen Brock of Honea Path; four grandchildren, Alicia Dover, Krystal Alewine, Jessica Branyon, and Katie Lee Nash; eight great-grandchildren, Chris, Zach, Summer, Brayden, Jacey, Jentry, Makayla, and Keeley; his nephew, Mark Murdock; his niece, Patti Murdock Rowe; and his faithful and loving puppy, Dusty.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Norine Murdock; and a great-grandchild, Ansley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, March 22, 2021 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Masks and social distancing is required. Burial with Military Honors will follow in M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
