Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Marvin Ray and Beatrice Blakely Kelly. He was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. He was the retired owner of Johnny's Body Shop and 24 Hr Towing.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 52 years of the home are: two sons, Jason Burgess of Greenville and Tommy Burgess of MD; a daughter, Jimmie Johnson of Honea Path; a brother, Jimmy (Pauline) Kelly of Lumberton, NC; his sister, Patricia (Bruce) Simmons of High Plains; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; and his canine best friend and companion, Lil’en.
Mr. Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Donna Burgess and Pam Kelly; two brothers, Charles Kelly and William Kelly; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
