Born in Newburgh, NY, he was a son of the late Russell and Marjorie Glass Frederick. He was of the Methodist Faith and was a carpenter.

Surviving are his wife of the home, three sons, John Edward Frederick, Jr. (Gabriella) of Hudson, FL, William Frederick (Ralph) of Asheville, NC, and Jordan Fredrick of Asheville, a brother Clifford Frederick of FL, six sisters, Sharon Stevens, Marjorie Pease, Alice Morgan, Gloria Morgan, all of New York, and Emma McKinnies of NC and Mary Jo Nealy of MA., a grandson David Alvin Frederick and several nieces and nephews..He was pre-deceased by a brother Russell G. Frederick, Jr.
